Snake Dance

Ellie Talbot has had a lot of hardships in her life. Things are not looking better for the foreseeable future. She lives in fear every day of her life. Fear of the more than two decades old, river red Western diamondback, called by man, Viejo’ Muerto’, meaning Old Death. Fear of her abusive father who she suspects to be the ‘Storm Stalker’, who comes in the darkness of the Texas storms, attacking young girls. Risking her own life to find out if her father is the stalker, she will soon learn the secrets of Old Death, becomes known as a 'Snake Sorceress' and is accused of ‘murder by rattler.’

Snake Dance has an interesting plot and well written characters that will carry this book from beginning to end. This reviewer found this book extremely hard to get into and to keep reading during the opening chapters as it started out rather slow and drawn out. The parts of the book that are told in the snake’s perspective is imaginative and unique. This reviewer is deathly afraid of snakes, but found herself intrigued by the feelings the author portrayed of the snake. Readers can't help but bring Ellie into their heart. She is a scared young woman who has not had an easy life. Daily living is a trial all in itself. This woman is an inspiration in strength.

All in all, this reviewer struggled reading this book but I did find many redeeming qualities that make this book a worthwhile read.
