House of Moons 2: The Shadow Master

It seems like I've been waiting for a long time to get my hands on the second book of Ms. Fey's House of Moons Series. My anticipation was heightened and I thought The Shadow Master couldn't possibly be better than the first book in the series, The Seeding. Boy, was I was wrong!

We're first re-introduced to the Charla, First Daughter of Lore and a Daughter of the House of Moons, while she is far from her own home world actively engaged in trying to recover the kidnapped princess Kamara from Space Station Tantra 9. Once within Kamara's presence she's informed that a Shadow Master hitched a ride and before she knows it, Charla finds herself hunting the Shadow Master, Padriac, determined to return with him as her queen ordered.

Padriac, is a Shadow Master, able to enter a person's mind at will, and to learn their most closely guarded secrets without their even knowing he is within their mind. He's on Space Station Tantra 9 and has an agenda all his own and it doesn't include being taking captive by one of the Daughters of the House of Moons. However, he doesn't have any problem using Charla to get what he wants.

When the two of them come face-to-face they find themselves on the run from slavers. Things begin to heat up and tensions begin to mount as they find themselves sexually drawn to one another. Where this all will end is anyone's guess considering they've both been raised to hate one another…

What can I say but that you definitely do not want to miss Ms. Fey's House of Moons 2: The Shadow Master if you are a fan of erotic romances with elements of science fiction, fantasy and the paranormal.

The two main characters are strong and likeable. Charla finds out some things about her past that cause her extreme pain, not to mention the outrage and anger that she feels and the instinct she has to right the wrong done to her. You empathize with her and are just as outraged as she is over what was done… Padriac is wonderful. He can be a little bit arrogant, but with that much power who wouldn't be. (Chuckling) He's definitely an alpha male and someone I wouldn't mind meeting up with myself. However, he's equally kind and caring. When he learns what was done to Charla in her past he is truly empathetic.

The ending was more than I expected, yet wasn't enough. I find myself hoping that Ms. Fey plans to write more about Charla and Padriac because this short story just couldn't do them and the plotline justice. Don't ask me to go into what I mean by that because it would give away the ending. However, I can tell you that I'm a sucker for happy endings for all parties involved and there were two individuals that I'd be happy to see introduced in an upcoming story involving Charla and Padriac. Hint! Hint! (Grinning)

And if you're like me and on the look for the third book in the House of Moon Series, it's called The Slave, and will be about Princess Kamara Lonriev.
