Insight
When I heard that a new publisher was breaking into the world of erotic e-books I had to wonder how their endeavor would turn out so when I had the opportunity to review Annie Rayburn's Insight I jumped on the chance.
Sela Marin, having just rounded the corner of Park Meadows Mall, with her head down, smacked right into a hard wall of male flesh. On looking up she finds herself looking into the most captivating azure eyes she has ever seen. Sela's guard drops as her mind flashes to satin sheets and her own back arching in an offering. The drop in her shield surprises her because she has trained herself to keep a certain mental distance from people. Could this man be her life-mate?
Jonavon Wyatt can't believe how he feels about the woman who bumps into him. He's amazed that he can want a woman so badly and so quickly. When she comes on to him all he can think is that things like this don't happen in broad daylight. Then things get worse when his fiancée comes upon the two of them because when he turns around to introduce her to Sela, she's gone. Now he's left feeling like everything in his life has changed including his feelings towards his fiancée.
Sela is a Crainesian and she is confused as to why Jonavon isn't using his mind to speak with her. If he, too, is a Crainesian he should recognize that they are life-mates and they should begin the traditional mind-mating. The woman who kisses him further upsets her, but she's not about to let another woman or Jonavon's suspected stubbornness stop her. Jonavon is about to be claimed, just as all Crainesian males throughout time have been…
I must say that if Annie Rayburn's Insight is anything to judge the HeatWave Romance books by then they are bound to have a winning line of erotic e-books on their hands. Insight was very well written. The words just seemed to flow from one sentence into the next and before I knew it the story was over.
The confusion, pain and desolation Jonavon feels is so real and so intense that you can almost feel it. I can't imagine being put into a situation like he finds himself in and not responding in the same fashion. And yet, the pain and suffering that Sela feels makes you have equal empathy for her. Yes, be prepared; for although this is a short story you'll find it filled with emotional lows and highs. And the tastefully erotic dreams and the sex is nothing to scoff at either! The conclusion is wonderful and I hope Ms. Rayburn has plans to write a longer Crainesian novel very soon.
Make sure you don't miss Annie Rayburn's Insight coming in the summer of 2005.
