Hart’s Truth
Hart Pagett’s arrival in Renew, Pennsylvania is anything but the mundane, ordinary arrival he expected. First, Dr. McGuire is as gruff and rude as can possibly be, and then, instead of the peaceful night he expected, he’s called in to help with a train wreck. This was certainly not the welcome Hart imagined, but the pretty face of Dr. McGuire’s daughter Abby almost makes up for the harsh conditions. Hart grew up with wealth and comfort in Philadelphia, so the more down to earth and small town atmosphere of Renew is quite a shock for him, but a pleasant one. Despite the somewhat rough start he had, he likes the town and its residents, and heck, being called a hero for saving a drowning boy doesn’t hurt either. Nevertheless, it’s the sweet and kind Abby who touches Hart’s spirit the most.
Abby can’t help her growing feelings for Hart. Not only is he easing her father’s workload, but he’s doing it with kindness and compassion. He’s still learning, but Abby can’t help but hope that perhaps, just perhaps, he’ll want to eventually call Renew home for good. But will Hart’s past prevent him from accepting all that Abby has to offer?
Hart’s Truth is the story of a man’s search for meaning in his life. He certainly doesn’t expect to find it Renew, but like the town’s name, it really does prove to be a renewing influence in his life. The slow-paced atmosphere of the town fits quite well with the more easygoing plot of this story. There are no exciting paranormal elements, no futuristic facets, but instead, the plot contained in this story touches on the heartwarming, the basic, and the true to life. This is a charming story due to the very simplistic nature of the plot and characters. Hart and Abby are similar to people you meet in real life because they value honesty and integrity, love and hope, values that come through quite clearly in Hart’s Truth.
