Summer in the City of Sails

Summer Williams is finally free! Now that she’s living in Auckland, working on her career as a librarian, at last she has the opportunity to see and experience everything, without interference from her family, namely her two brothers. What she’s looking forward to most in Auckland however is meeting men. Her brothers chase away any potential boyfriends, and now that she’s living alone, well, it’s the perfect opportunity to get to know some sexy guys! Now if only she could get rid of her pesky baby-sitter.

Special Air Services soldier Nikolai Tarei does not want to have to watch over Summer while her Uncle Henry goes on his honeymoon, but because they are such good friends, he reluctantly agrees. Not only is he annoyed with having to keep track of the twenty-two year old beauty, but he’s also very aggravated by his unwilling attraction to her. At thirty-one, Nikolai believes he’s way too old for Summer, and besides, he’s supposed to be making sure she doesn’t get into any trouble, not introducing her to “trouble” of the intimate kind.

Since Nikolai seems so unwilling to explore a fling with her, Summer turns her attention to Dare Martin, a handsome and somewhat sinister character. Sure, he doesn’t make her heart flutter the way Nikolai does, but then, one can’t have everything. Unfortunately, Dare is bad news and when he hires thugs to rob Summer’s house, in the hopes of recovering a fly fishing book, he leads Summer straight into Nikolai’s arms. But can a fling with a basis in lust ever turn into something more? Something perhaps involving…love?

Summer in the City of Sails is a great story! Danger and espionage, romantic connections, and lots of humor from blue-haired Summer ensure that the reader is in for a great time while reading this story. The romantic and sexual tension between Summer and Nikolai is at a constant high throughout this story and readers will definitely be on the edge of their seats, wondering if this duo will finally get their act together.

This reviewer really enjoyed this story because it is such a sheer pleasure to read. There aren’t too many stories where the elements of plot, setting, characters, and romance come together so beautifully, but Summer in the City of Sails proves to be the one of those rare treats in the romance genre. This is one story you won’t want to miss, and I can only hope that Ms. Munro has some sequels planned for some of the other male leads in this story.
