Midnight Velvet

Nevada ‘Velvet’ James is an analyst for the NCA who is one step away from her dream of becoming a field agent. When she answers a call from Agent Midnight and it becomes garbled, she drives home thinking of what his codes may have meant. When it dawns on her that they mean the warehouse by the church she grew up by, she decides to take a ride past it.

Tyler ‘Midnight’ Call cannot believe his luck when he tackles a woman and it ends up being his contact at the NCA. What is an analyst doing out here? When they make it to her car, they find out that her purse with all of her identification and her keys have been left behind. Now that the drug cartel he was investigating knows who she is, he has no choice but to take her with him. Not only is he stuck with her, but per his supervisor’s orders, he is now her trainer! Can they fight their attraction as well as discover a possible mole in their organization?

This was a great book with amazing dialogue. Nevada is a woman who is afraid to love anyone and Tyler is a man who has tried to live up to his father his entire life. When the two of them get together, the sparks fly! Ms. Burton once again does a phenomenal job of painting a believable scenario with ‘real’ people. I always buy Ms. Burton’s books because of her skill in making a reader relate with a character even if their lives are completely outside the scope of the norm. What a fun book with a great couple.
