Surviving Mortality

When Cally found out that her parents’ fortune was tied up in red tape, she needed to find a job quickly! Her friend Mary Jo suggested a job at a local diner. For a woman who graduated from Radcliffe, this was not the job she expected, but it was definitely the job she needed. While there, she meets a wonderful group of people, including her old boyfriend from high school. Is Nick all he seems to be? Cally questions Nick’s habit of always showing up when she needs him when she finds out that a group of paranormal investigators have taken up residence at Cally’s parents’ house without her permission. What follows is a touching story of rediscovery and strength.

Surviving Mortality by Cyndi Redding was a sweet story that had a few slow parts, but ultimately ended as a touching story. The character of Cally was one of strength and independence, she was a strong woman who found herself in miserable circumstances. Nick was a little harder to like because of his constant invasions of her privacy. Tommy was a great character who was a loveable boss willing to do almost everything to keep his employees safe. All in all, Surviving Mortality was a well-written story with good characters.
