The Dare

The Dare is the second in the Risking it All series.

This trilogy tells the story of three sisters who lost their father six years ago. On Natalie’s 26th birthday the three girls receive letters from their father that were written just before his death. When Rory opens her letter and finds her father’s advice to never be afraid to take risks she decides that her plan is what she needs to do.

Rory is fed up with always bouncing from job to job and is determined to find her way as a reporter. All she needs is a picture of elusive businessman Jared Slade. She hides in the lobby of his hotel only to snap a picture of two men, and since she’s not sure which is Jared Slade, she takes off and hides in a lingerie store dressing room. When Rory finds herself in the lingerie store’s dressing room having an amazing tryst with his bodyguard, ‘The Terminator,’ she cannot believe it is her. Not to sound clichéd, but she’s not ‘that’ kind of girl. In a surprising reversal of thought, Rory gives up her film to the bodyguard with a promise that she gets an interview with Jared Slade.

Jared has never been so blindsided by a woman before. When he followed her into the storefront, he only wanted the film. He never expected to find himself in a steamy clinch with the mysterious woman. After a bomb is found in his hotel room, he disappears, but not without getting the film and her name.

An amazing story of murder, revenge, lust, and ultimately love ensues.

I was so sorry to see this book end! I cannot wait until The Favor comes out in July. The second book in the series is just as good as the first! The three girls are amazing characters and are very well written. Rory is a quirky woman who never stays in one place for too long. When she finally settles, it is a wonderful thing. Jared has been hiding for so long that when he finally opens up, wow. The chemistry between these two was so hot!! Especially the scene in the store! The twists and turns in the plot make you guess all the way through the book. You aren’t sure who the bad guy is until the end of the book. Very well done, Ms. Summers!
