Revenge at Mirror Lake

Peyton Holmes has always been at odds with her brother and sister. After losing her parents in an accident at a very young age, her relationship with her siblings began to suffer. Growing up, her sister Lisa has always been cruel to her, from name-calling to regular beatings. Her brother Marshall was too self-absorbed to care. A grown-up Peyton fell in love. It didn’t last that long…Steve ended up leaving her for another woman. Poor Peyton always seems to get the poor end of the deal.

Steve Pentaudi has some serious issues. Peyton and he had been in love once, and things had fallen apart. She left him when he felt that she should have been there for him. It was shocking to him that Peyton was in on the real estate deal turned sour that her brother had cooked up. Steve had revenge planned, and he was taking it out on Peyton. He was going to make her his sex slave. He would make her into the woman that he felt she wasn’t while they were together. Steve is clueless to the fact that there were extenuating circumstances that had changed everything while they were apart. It’s those circumstances that keep the plot moving like a freight train the entire book.

I truly felt sorry for Peyton. In my mind, she was truly a victim of circumstance. She rose to the occasion, however, and showed everyone- including me- that she can indeed handle herself during a tense situation. I caught my breath several times during the reading of this book, especially when Steve and Peyton figure out what’s truly behind all the lies. The action begins to pick up there, and will truly keep you turning the pages. Revenge at Mirror Lake is heart stopping- both in its steamy sexual scenes and its plot configuration. The turns that the story takes are unexpected, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! What a wonderful read!
