Steve Lund has been with The Caulder Company a long time. After closing down the Buenos Aires office, Steve and his family head to Cadillac, Michigan. Sharon has found the perfect house in Deerfield for them to raise their son, Jeff. Unfortunately, this house comes with a past. The previous owner of the house had been shot by his wife after he attacked her.

Steve and his son separately discover a wooded path that seems to somehow draw them in. Steve longs to see what’s at the end of the path. Steve wakes up in the woods one evening, unsure how he got there. As time wears on, he begins to get flashbacks of being on the path. The neighbors have quite a few secrets of their own, and seem to know what is at the end of the path. The entire town seems to know what is happening on this path. Sharon Lund, Sheriff LaMear and Steve are working together to come to the bottom of the all the mysterious disappearances of town folk, and end up discovering the biggest plot that little Deerfield has ever seen. The Lunds are a strong family, and even otherworldly beings, combined with murder, kidnapping and murder cannot keep them apart.

This book was a wonderful read! This one is definitely a keeper. The characters are unbelievably real, and richly developed. I fell in love with the story from the start - hook, line and sinker! The path seemed to draw me in just as much as the characters in the story. I would love to read more in the future about little Deerfield, Michigan and the strange forces that run the town!
