Descendants of the Light: Raven’s Calling

With a disease killing the Ceyan people, the four royal brothers of Zerus on the H’trae planet, King Rohman, Prince Aarik, Prince Kalian and Prince Thane, have traveled the world and have yet to find a cure for their people. In the past, a race called The’Ran were known to possess the healing powers to cure any ailment. But The’Rans have not existed since the four royal brothers were born. Now that Prince Thane possesses the dimly glowing Crystal of Tiearen, there’s still hope in saving the Ceyan people. A crystal, which legend states, that when it glows there are The’Rans people living somewhere in the galaxy. Seeking guidance, Prince Thane and Prince Kalian visit the Ancient Ones and make a bargain on the whereabouts of the remaining The’Ran people. In return for the location, the Ancient Ones demand three things. One of which will have the royal brothers choosing between the four remaining The’Ran women as their brides and uniting the Zerus and Tiearen people. Finding out that there are four women from The’Ran race who are coming into their powers, Prince Kalian and Prince Thane travel to Earth to bring their brides home.

Back on Earth, Raven Storm, a famous model, is plagued with erotic nightmares of a winged man dressed only in a loincloth. Dreams that always end too soon just as her dark angel finally takes her. Frustrated with her dreams and her life as an aging model, Raven spontaneously packs up her SUV and drives out of the city. With no real destination, Raven ends up at a farming town in Virginia. Arriving at a shack, Raven is forced inside where she finds two other women held captive. Trying to gather more information from the other captives, her dream lover, minus the wings, arrives at the shack with a fourth captive. Unable to understand the captor’s language, Raven has a feeling that they won’t be harmed. But what she wants to know is why these particular women were brought together and why her dream lover Thane is here in the flesh.

Descendants of the Light: Raven’s Calling is the first installment of the Descendants of the Light series. It’s a fast paced, sensual, and entertaining story that leaves you wanting more. Raven has it all, she’s rich, famous and living a glamorous life. But she feels empty like as if she has no purpose in life, while Prince Thane is a randy royal with good intentions. He and his brothers will risk their lives to save their people. The dream connection between Thane and Raven is very hot. Fate has brought them together, but will fate keep them together. The Zerus law states that the oldest brother, King Rohman, will have first choice of the The’Ran women. A nice twist to the storyline since Prince Thane is the youngest brother. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the H’trae planet, along with the descriptions of the various inhabitants. I definitely can relate to Raven’s first impressions in her new surrounds. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Vaughn and I can’t wait to read Genesis’ story. An enjoyable read!
