Desert Moon: Ah-Ten
Caire is leader of the Tu'at, dwellers of the underworld. She has been haunted by visions of a man, a man she hopes will marry her and help in her efforts to prevent war between the underworld and the surface dwellers. She also needs a strong man to protect her when she ventures to the surface because she is weak and vulnerable when away from her home too long. When she one-day finds a Djinn medallion, her hopes to have the man she dreams of can become a reality as long as can convince him to marry her and be her champion.
Ah-ten is a djahdan, a rebel Djinn. He wants to be in control of his own life and he strives to live a completely free life. Things don't work out as he plans once he finds himself Caire's captive as she holds his medallion, that which can return him to being Djinn. Ah-ten must decide if he will acquiesce to Caire's request or continue to be a renegade Djinn.
Desert Moon: Ah-ten was a very complex and extremely interesting book. Caire and Ah-ten are larger than life characters who seemed to leap from the page. Caire was a very determined heroine who would do anything and use any means to accomplish her goals. Ah-ten was a super sexy and tortured alpha-male whose only wish in life is to not have to grant wishes but have his own life. I immediately empathized with him and desperately wanted them both to find happiness.
One thing that Desert Moon: Ah-ten has lots of is hot, hot sex. Every kind of sex is thoroughly explored in Desert Moon: Ah-ten which is completely deserving of its scorching rating. I haven't read sex scenes as erotic as these in a long time.
Ms. Sparks has created a fascinating universe in her Desert Moon series, one that I hope to revisit very, very soon.
