Allison Drummond has loved Matthew Conner since she was a teenager. No matter how mature and sophisticated Allison tries to appear, something about Matt always makes her nervous and uncoordinated. Now that her father has made marriage to her part of a business deal, Allison and Matt are thrown together. Allison knows that Matt does not love her, but she hopes that in time his feelings for her will grow. Matt does not see or know the real Allison and is reluctant to see the woman that she is. As Allison struggles to control her feelings and to make Matt see the woman that she has become, she works to make her dream come true.

Matthew Conner has known Allison Drummond since she was a gangly teenager. Every time they are together some catastrophe follows. Now his former boss and potential business partner, Bill Drummond, has made marriage to Allison part of the deal. The man who marries Allison will become Drummond’s new business partner. Matt has worked too hard to allow this deal to slip through his fingers. As he contemplates marriage to Allison, he begins to notice that she has grown up and filled out. She does not lack for suitors, but Matt is opposed to marrying any society girl. They are all spoiled rotten and Allison seems the worst of the lot.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. Matt and Allison make a wonderful couple that seems to balance each other. The chemistry is intense as they each struggle to control their lust. Each character has faced loss and that has helped to shape the person that they are today. The author has a wonderful sense of dialogue that will make this story hard to resist.
