Taming The Temptress
Lorelei never expected to meet a man like James working at The Whipporwill. He is not her usual customer. First James, a reporter, saves her from an unruly customer, then he is actually kind and courteous to her. Most men treat Lorelei horribly, but while James seems to want her he does not immediately act on those feelings. Lorelei cannot help but wonder what game he is playing. There has been very little kindness in Lorelei’s life. As the two continue to spend time together, their lust knows no bounds. Lorelei opens her bruised heart to James, falling in love. When James announces he is leaving, Lorelei wonders what part she has played in his decision.
James watches with interest as the cowboy publicly fondled the woman at the pool table. The woman paid the man very little attention and went on to beat him at a game of pool. The man become violent and James enters the fray to help the woman. Lorelei is nothing like James expects. Most women working at The Whipporwill have become hardened over time, but not Lorelei. There is a sweetness that seems to come from within. James cannot control the growing feelings he has for Lorelei and does not want to leave her when his job is finished.
This is a very moving book. Lorelei is a woman that has not let difficult times and situations make her hard. She has fought to protect herself in a harsh, cold world. The author paints a very real picture of what life was like in the Old West. A woman was just a piece of property to most. The love and lust that James and Lorelei feel for one another is a very foreign emotion for both. Great dialogue and a moving love story will make this book a definite keeper.
