Twice in a Lifetime

When Chloe Rogers’s husband Duncan was taken away from her by a drunk driver, she didn’t know what she was going to do. She now had to raise her daughter Catherine Isabelle by herself and hopefully make her decorating business a success. Five years after his death, Duncan’s best friend Zach Jenson comes back to Owensboro to take over his father’s law practice. He needs someone to decorate his new home and he calls on Chloe, the widow of his best friend and the woman he has secretly loved and lusted for since she was Duncan’s wife. Zach tried to hide his feelings, but now that he’s back in town, he wants to try to get to know her again, in the hopes of finally winning her love. Unfortunately, Zach has a big secret that, if Chloe finds out, could destroy any chance for a relationship with her. His younger brother Devlin was the drunk driver who killed Duncan.

Chloe is very leery of Zach, especially since she has secretly fantasized about him for years, even during her marriage to Duncan. She starts working on his house and even agrees to go out to dinner with him. Though she doesn’t want to say she’s dating Zach, her feelings for him continue to leap and grow as she gets to know him. He’s wonderful with Belle, wonderful with Chloe and seems to fit into their lives, but yet, Chloe still protests too much. Zach doesn’t know what it will take to prove to her that he is the right man for her. She keeps pushing him away. When he finally tells her the truth about Devlin, she doesn’t believe him and Zach just doesn’t know what to do. How will he prove that it isn’t wrong to fall in love with him, and that Devlin really is a bad guy? Be sure to read Twice in a Lifetime and find out.

This was a very good story. It was filled with emotions and lots of interesting relationships. Sapphire Williams managed to not only do a wonderful job of showing Zach and Chloe’s growing relationship, she also made the relationship between Chloe and her two sisters, Cora and Cleo, seem very true to life. The sisters argued, laughed, shared jokes, and learned more about love and life in Twice in a Lifetime. I was very impressed by her portrayal of the family relationships. I hope that she plans to write Cora and Cleo’s stories in the future. I was very satisfied with this story; it had a great beginning, middle, and end. If you like family based stories with a strong romantic duo, then Twice in a Lifetime is the perfect story to pick up.
