A Lover’s Moon

Kat, a dance instructor, is determined not to be like her mother. She has been resolute not to have sex until she has a ring on her finger. Only, she hadn’t counted on Adrian. After only two weeks, she gives in to her body’s urges – and then he dumps her. She believes he does so because he got what he wanted, and her belief that this is the case hurts her very deeply. When she finds out that she’s pregnant, she loves the baby from the get go, but she is very wary of telling Adrian. Unaware of anything being out of the ordinary, she is stunned when she overhears her doctor talking to a nurse, discussing how they will have to abort her baby and find out the name of the father, who they claim is not human, so they can ‘deal’ with him. Believing them to be psychopaths, she calmly leaves the clinic, but is stopped by the nurse, who is most insistent on getting the name of the father from Kat. Kat runs, but is pursued by a black SUV. Running a red light, she heads to Brent’s house, a cousin of Adrian’s and a police officer. Only, he’s not there – but Adrian is. Will she accept the help she requires from the man who wounded her so badly? Does she have a choice? Just when will she get around to telling Arian he is going to be a father? Or does she tell him at all?

Adrian is a werewolf – and a control freak. Control is a big issue for him. He is one of the few members in his pack that can completely resist the change for the whole night on the full moon. He needs to be in control of everything at all times. So when he couldn’t control his body when he was with Kat, he decided that she had to go. After all, he gave up playing football, even though the NFL were all over him, because it triggered his base instincts, so why wouldn’t he give up a woman? He soon realizes that doing so is the biggest mistake of his life, for Kat is his mate, and without her he is miserable. He decides to get her back, knowing that doing so won’t be easy When Kat turns up at his cousin’s smelling of fear, Adrian is angered and outraged that someone could frighten his mate – and is stunned when he sees that she is being pursued by three men in a black SUV with an assault rifle. After the danger temporarily passes, Adrian moves a sleeping Kat to his family’s lodge, knowing that staying where they are is not safe, all the while wondering what his sweet, innocent Kat had managed to get herself into. It never occurs to him that he, and his heritage, could be at the root of the danger Kat is in – a heritage that Kat knows nothing about. Just when will he tell her that he is a werewolf? Will he and his family be able to extinguish the threat to their pack, their mates and their children? How will Kat react to him, knowing he is not entirely human? Will she still love him?

Another brilliant story from Ms. Lynn! This is the second in the Moon series, with several more planned to follow – and I can’t wait, because I have enjoyed both of these so much! That both characters have such huge secrets and manage to keep them from each other for the length of time they do boggles the mind. The reader is kept in suspense, wondering just when these secrets will be exposed and what effect they will have on Kat and Adrian’s relationship. It also demonstrates the author’s great writing skill, as Ms. Lynn manages to write a story where the two characters give nothing away to each other, though their feelings and attraction to one another runs very deep. Make no mistake, this is a love story first and foremost, where one man’s issues causes him to turn away from the one woman who could make him enormously happy and complete his life. When he finally comes to this realization and wants to get her back, he finds that she is in danger and that far from having a long, happy life with one another their time together could be cut very short. This story is largely focused on the emotional side of their relationship, but there is also a focus on the physical. Love scenes are detailed and hot, making this tale a great read for romance readers who like some erotica in their stories – particularly paranormal romance fans! Well-written, this story kept me reading until the end, and I will add Ms. Lynn to my list of authors to look out for!
