Pursuit
Pamela Bordeaux comes from a Cariboo Lunewolf pack that follows the traditional laws, which are now considered outdated by many werewolves. There has never been a werewolf in her pack that she has wanted to mate with and now, at the age of twenty-three, her sire has decided to choose a mate for her. Only the werewolf he chooses, Jordan Ricky, is not someone Pamela would ever consider for her mate. She is not asked and does not consent to be mated to him. The first she hears that they are mated is when he turns up at her den, drunk from celebrating, to collect her. She refuses him but he drags her from her den and beats her for not obeying and humiliating him before the pack. She runs before sunrise, driving until she runs out of gas in Prince George – where she is chased by two unknown Cariboo Lunewolves, one of whom she becomes intensely attracted to.
Gabe and Stone, identical twin Cariboo Lunewolves, were finishing work for the day when they received word of an abandoned car – and picked up the smell of a female Cariboo Lunewolf without an escort. When she changes to lunewolf and runs from them, they do the same and give chase. Upon finding out that she is running from a mating that she doesn’t want and was beaten by the would-be mate, they and their pack offer her protection. But when her den and Jordan come to collect her, do they stand by their offer of protection or do they let her go back to the mountains with her den and the werewolf she is to be forced to mate with? What of the feelings that have grown between Pamela and Gabe?
Pursuit is the second in the Cariboo Lunewolf series, which is loosely connected to Ms O’Clare’s other werewolf series, Lunewolf. I strongly advise you to read the series in order and also to read the Lunewolf series first. I did not and found myself wishing that I had. Reading the series in order will provide you with the much needed background knowledge you need to be able to completely follow the Cariboo Lunewolf series. Having said that, this is a great story about a woman being coerced to mate with a man she is repelled by but finding a man she can love – and who loves her in return, but is unsure of whether he loves her enough to challenge her ‘mate’ and fight to the death for the right to call her his own. The sex scenes are explicit and include a threesome towards the end of the story. The chemistry between the characters is electric. This is a truly great read.
