Beyond Illusion

Ellie Waterhouse is a cynic; she doesn’t believe in magic. It’s for this reason that her editor sends her to Las Vegas to review Vincent’s new show. Vincent Darque is gorgeous, charismatic, powerful and darkly dangerous. A famous magician, a master illusionist, he’s renowned for his talents and for his disdain of the press and refusal to grant interviews. Despite being impressed by the spectacular show, Ellie firmly believes it is just clever use of smoke and mirrors, even when Vincent suddenly appears beside her seat in the audience. Vincent’s instantly captivated with her; so much so that he issues an unprecedented invitation for Ellie to join him on tour. As Ellie enters Vincent’s world, it quickly becomes apparent that, beyond illusion, all is not what it seems.

Once again, Sherri L. King sweeps the reader into a fascinating paranormal tale. Told primarily from Ellie’s point-of-view, readers journey with her as she watches the show, meets Vincent and is drawn into his world; we feel her scepticism and understand her desire to rationally explain what she’s witnessing. Is it all just an elaborate stage show with smoke and mirrors or is there another, not so logical, explanation? We also feel Vincent’s passion and drive and understand his determination, and frustration, that he and Ellie should be together. How can the sceptic and the magician reconcile their differences?

Together Vincent and Ellie make an exceptionally hot couple. Ms. King’s sex scenes are always sizzling and passionate, and those contained in Beyond Illusion are no exception. Make sure you have iced water, a fan and/or your significant other handy! Yet, there is much more to Beyond Illusion than just hot sex; there is an engaging storyline, two strong yet different main characters, a suspense element and a fascinating look into the world of an illusionist, all combining to create an enthralling tale that has found a home in my keepers file. 5 angels.
