Virtually Yours
Sarah Sharpe had a specific reason for wanting to participate in the study at nearby Jefferson College. She wanted the extra money she’d get to help her young niece and nephew buy a Christmas present for their mother Jessie, Sarah’s sister. As a secretary in a local elementary school, her salary just wouldn’t stretch that far without a little help. Amazingly, she was chosen as a test subject over all the other people in her group. All she had to do was spend an hour every day in virtual reality, using the special technology that was being tested at the College. How hard could that be? She even had her own personal virtual guide during her virtual travels. The only problem was when Sarah started wishing that her virtual world was real ...
I really like the concept of this story – it’s science fiction, but it’s not too far-fetched, and may already be happening to people in our society. The plot was straight-forward, and moved along at an even pace. The conflicts in this story were very realistic – how do you choose between two equally attractive alternatives, when your head tells you one thing and your heart tells you another? Sarah deals with her problems in a level-headed way, and yet finds herself succumbing to the longings of her emotions. The rest of the cast of characters – a fairly large group – are well delineated and are interesting people in their own right. In fact, there are a few of these secondary characters whose stories I’d like to read in the future. While the male/female love scenes in this novel are more sensual than graphically erotic, and they are very hot. I enjoyed this one and I know that you will too!
