Lacey Savage pens a lush and hauntingly erotic story about a king and a queen separated by issues much larger than life. Akenaten is a man torn between duty and passion, and he is openly confused about the sudden changes in his wife, even as he worries about the legacy of his reign. Nell is a strong and confident female lead thrown into something so unbelievably farfetched that it takes her a while to get her bearings, but when she does, look out! Nell as Nell is good, but Nell as Nefertiti is just a smidgen better, making this tale sing. Ms. Savage manages to improve upon her own creation right before readers’ eyes as this story unfolds. Toss in a pile of passion and a nefarious plot to overthrow the monarchy, and you’ve got a sensually seductive story. I, Nefertiti is a beautifully written creative slice of ancient times served up smoking hot.
