Model and aspiring actress Lucetta St. John’s life is an endless series of paparazzi, foolish men, and photo shoots - that is, until she is caught up in a murder investigation. She’s got to get her aversion to sex under control so that she can play the role of a femme fatale in her upcoming movie, and in order to do that, she’ll have to rehearse seducing a man...

Detective Jack McGuire, a New York native, feels like a fish out of water in Los Angeles; today is his last day before he moves back East. He’s tying up some loose ends, interviewing people with connections to the homicide case he’s on when he gets the most amazing invitation from the gorgeous Ms. St. John. She’s offering him lots of money and a trip to Mexico in exchange for him allowing her to “practice" on him. What’s not to like about this deal?

Out of My League puts forth an interesting, often times hilarious concept, and Therese MacFarland packs this tale with rapier wit, poignant vulnerability, and the overcoming of insecurities. Jack is dumbfounded and intrigued at Lucetta’s offer, but when the actuality of their bargain hits him, his personal honor shines through. Lucetta is perfectly crafted; she's funny, sweet, and untouched by the dog-eat-dog mentality of Hollywood. I was entertained and enchanted by this story, and the scenes with Patsy, Lucetta’s bodyguard/friend/supporting character, were just side-splitting at times. Snappy dialogue, an exotic locale, and steamy intimacy make Out of My League my choice for Recommended Read and a perfect 5 Angel rating!
