Underground Guardians: Healer

Marcella could never get enough of Diego…but was it love or merely an addiction?

Scientists have genetically altered an elite group of soldiers with alien DNA injections. These men are more aggressive, heal quickly and are highly tuned into their animal instincts. This radical experiment has broken the ranks into two opposing groups: the Arions who seek to take over the world with the view to creating a superior race and the Black Knights who are dedicated to preserving and protecting the human population. An unforseen side effect is the drive to mate once, for life. The Arions have captured many females for breeding with little success. Only the perfect mate for each soldier will be able to bear his children.

Diego Montez, a Black Knight, has been assigned to bring in a woman with extraordinary healing skills before the Arions can find her. His instincts tell him immediately that Marcella is his match. He is amazed with his conviction and ease of telepathy with a woman that he has never met before. She was waiting for a seriously ill child and refuses to obey his orders to leave with him.

Marcella felt the presence of the handsome, intense soldier before she ever saw him. He is perfection itself and she feels drawn to him. Marcella ignores the protests of her bodyguard because she senses that Diego is all he says and more. That night she experiences an overwhelming erotic dream. It is so real that Marcella believes that Diego is in the room with her. Diego also shares this steamy vision: he sees it as confirmation that Marcella is his alone.

This erotic dream and mouth-watering introduction pales in comparison to the moment when the couple come together in the flesh, drawn by threads of destiny and desire, weaving their ties in a dance as old as time. As Diego makes Marcella his mate for life, nothing is left to the imagination. This heated clash of absolute pleasure and animalistic claiming is sure to make your toes curl. Marcella is slightly scared of Diego’s intensity, but also secretly thrilled. She does not comprehend how deeply Diego needs her or that there will be no going back for him if she changes her mind. She is lost in heady ecstasy, uncomprehending just how it is possible that she can feel her lover’s thoughts and emotions as if they were one; body and soul.

If you are looking for a hero who is agile, has an element of danger and is enhanced in all the right places, you cannot go past Diego Montez. Although he knows that he could easily force his mate to comply, he gives her time, even when they are racing against the clock to save lives. Faced with the mind-blowing bonding to a complete stranger, who could blame Marcella for her second thoughts and wishes to wind back time? I’m sure that after finishing Healer, there would be many readers willing to take her place if it were possible.

Healer is action packed, the story is solid and exciting, but erotic moments are the true scene stealers. These explicitly passionate moments will leave you breathless, yet turning pages, eager to learn the fate of the lovers. Healer is linked to Underground Guardians: Protector but is an enjoyable read as a solo title. However, I have enjoyed this tale so much that I am determined to rush out and buy Protector as well. This is another keeper for the X rated shelf; I hope that the series continues.
