Alexandru: A Vampire\'s Legacy Lives On

Nikki was walking home one night and felt a presence. When she saw a man in a long coat behind her she did what any intelligent woman would do, she ran. In her panic, she tripped and found herself looking into the unchanged face of Alexandru, her lover from twenty years ago. As the evening progresses, she finds herself trying to figure out why he seems different, finally, she confronts him and is treated to a story that she cannot believe. When he leaves her, Nikki follows him and comes face-to-face with the proof that he is, in fact, a vampire.

Instead of being disgusted with him, Nikki asks him to make her a vampire, too. A wonderful few months pass until Nikki is left alone by events out of her control. Trying to make it without her love and learning about her abilities present a great story that will make you think about the gray shades in life.

Ms. Rhodes takes a tried and true legend and injects her own twist to make it, surprisingly, more believable. Alexandru is a tragic man trying to make the best of a situation that he has no control of. Nikki is a harder character to figure out. She is very complex and yet simple at the same time. She is trying to survive and has forgotten that there is more to life. I found Ms. Rhodes’ writing style to be a little hard to follow, but the story kept me going. Alexandru: A Vampire's Legacy Lives On is a book that reminds you that life is for living, not just surviving.
