Twilight’s End

Legend has it that the “holy place” is a gift from the gods and will bring renewal to the people. This renewal will be for all that has been lost and a great warrior will be able to open the “holy place” without perishing in the process. Khan, leader of his people breaks into the “holy place” which houses Dionne, a woman from the past. Dionne is genetically engineered to save the human species and she was to awaken when the time is right. Due to unforeseen circumstances, a thousand years have passed and Dionne is awakened by Khan, a barbarian in her eyes. Dionne is protected by her two cougars, Sachi and Nomi as she faces the challenge ahead.

Khan is an Alpha male to the core. He is physically powerful and a very intelligent man. He is also a man who is sexually attracted to Dionne and wants to claim her for his own. Dionne is surprised by where she is and the amount of time that has passed, but she has a job to do. She is pulled in different directions as her personal feelings must not interfere with her mission. She is determined to accomplish it and nothing will sway her from it. Khan and Dionne’s relationship is adversarial at times but also very erotic as they try to deal with their situation. Communication is difficult at the beginning as speech and vocabulary had changed but this problem is overcome very quickly. Dionne and Khan must also deal with outside forces as Dionne tries to fulfill her destiny. Dionne and Khan’s relationship dominates the story as we get to know them. Their characters are fully developed and realized. Though they come across as tough and strong people each has a tender and softer side that is revealed when they are together.

Twilight’s End is an imaginative story about man’s future. It contains humor, action and lots of romance. The interaction between the two lead characters as well as the many secondary characters make this an enjoyable adventure. Ms. O’Connor has woven a full and rich tale that will capture the reader’s imagination.
