The Accidental Countess
Colleen MacGregor finds an unconscious man reeking of alcohol outside. It is cold and snowing and she knows she must save him from certain death. The man is Sebastian Ware, heir to the Earl of Penwyth, who was left for dead after being hit in the head. Colleen drags him to her cottage and tends to him. Unfortunately, they are caught by the vicar and her reputation is in jeopardy. Sebastian proposes marriage to Colleen. She agrees if he leaves her be after the ceremony, but circumstances prevents it. Before she knows it, Colleen finds herself transported to London and being introduced to society as a Countess.
Colleen is a woman with a brain. She isn’t a twit, but a no-nonsense woman. It was such a joy to come across a woman who isn’t a simpering miss. Her response to Sebastian was thoroughly enjoyable. She doesn’t perceive herself as physically beautiful, but the reader can see how lovely she truly is. She is truly a perfect match for Sebastian. Sebastian is a man with hidden depths. Having one bad marriage to his name, he is unwilling to endure another one. It is to his great delight that he finds love and happiness with Colleen. His relationship with his mother and sister shows another side of him. It really shows how important his family is to him. Colleen and Sebastian click from their first meeting and the chemistry just grows from there.
The Accidental Countess is a very enjoyable book for historical romance lovers. The author creates some very memorable characters that readers will fall in love with. Although the love story is the main focal point, there are mysteries to solve as to who is trying to kill Sebastian’s and Colleen’s family ties. The author deftly wraps it all up for a very satisfying and happy ending.
