Every Breath You Take

Derrick and Brandi Evans live an idyllic life. They have two wonderful kids and are totally, absolutely and completely in love. That is until Derrick is killed in the line of duty and Brandi is left to raise their twins alone. Brandi tries to continue on but she is haunted by the memory of her husband.

Derrick is not done with this life and he can’t sit by and let his wife marry the man who killed him. When he is allowed to come back to Earth and try to win Brandi back, he jumps at the chance…the catch being he must return as Matt Collins, a white man with a tainted soul. Will Derrick succeed in redeeming Matt Collins’ soul and winning back his beloved Brandi?

In recent memory, I can’t remember a time when I was so utterly absorbed into a book as I was with Eve Vaughn’s Every Breath You Take. While the storyline is a somewhat familiar one, the characters are what drew me into this incredibly engrossing story. I especially enjoyed how the secondary characters, Brandi’s twins and Matt’s son in particular, were three-dimensional, fully fleshed-out characters.

This story packs quite a punch where the action is concerned and I often found myself holding my breath and anxiously reading to find out what would happen next. Ms. Vaughn does an excellent job of putting the reader into the events of the book so much so that I felt a strong emotional bond to these characters while I shared their story.

Every Breath You Take is a must read for anyone who enjoys a great book with a wholly engrossing storyline, erotic sex, and edge-of-your-seat thrills. If it were possible, I’d give this story 10 Angels and 2 Recommended Reads. Bravo, Ms. Vaughn!
