~Leanne Burroughs~

Having grown up in Wisconsin and living in South Carolina for several years, Leanne now lives in Florida with her husband of thirty-eight years. They have one daughter, one son and daughter-in-law, one grandson, and two granddaughters.

In 2005, when her publisher was going to go out of business, Leanne and her husband purchased HIGHLAND PRESS. In January of 2006 they opened the publishing company to the public to help writers realize their dreams. While HIGHLAND PRESS’ first love is historicals—and wants to bring readers the types of historicals they fell in love with years ago— they are accepting submissions from every genre except erotica. Proceeds from their first book went to benefit breast cancer research and treatment.

Leanne enjoys reading, writing, and traveling. Most recently she traveled to Norway to research her Viking saga and found the scenery breathtaking. The year before she visited Hawaii. Before that she visited Ireland, where she fell in love with the beautiful countryside and its Viking history. She also visited Spain and France in her quest for stories. England, with its great history, will play into many of her books. She loved her moonlight visit to Stonehenge. Her absolute favorite place to visit, however, is the lovely country of Scotland. Its beauty is beyond words, and the friendliness of its people is incomparable. In Florida, she can often be found at Disney World with her grandchildren (although everyone knows they are merely an excuse for her to visit there).

While doing genealogy research for her husband, she fell in love with Scottish history. That, combined with her love of writing, led to the novel HIGHLAND WISHES, a historical novel about the Scottish War for Independence. It was a winner in the 2004 Published Laurie Readers’ and Booksellers’ Best for Best Historical, as well as the 2005 Reviewers’ International Organization (RIO) for Best Reissue. HER HIGHLAND ROGUE continues to address Scotland's war for independence and introduces Robert the Bruce’s bid for king. It came in first place in the 2005 Reviewers’ International Organization (RIO) for Best Historical and the 2005 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Historical. She is currently working on KEEPER OF MY HEART, a novel about the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden. Her pending Viking epic is tentatively titled THE POWER AND THE PASSION. She also plans sequels to WISHES and ROGUE.

She currently is a member of Romance Writers of America, is president elect for Outreach International, secretary for Hearts Through History, and newsletter editor for Outreach International's, Outreacher. In addition, she is a member of First Coast Romance Writers, Central Florida Romance Writers, Celtic Hearts RWA SIG, RWA Online and Florida Writers Association.
