I’m Watching You

Assistant State’s Attorney Kristen Mayhew has an admirer. An admirer that believes justice should be served no matter the consequences. As she defends victims in a court of law, a vigilante steps in where the justice system failed. Using his own code of ethics, the killer begins to hunt the criminals that she herself was unable to stop. Whereas a part of her is satisfied that the guilty have finally paid, Kristen can’t stand idly by while the law is used to murder. Choosing the side of absolute right, Kristen calls for help and meets Detective Abe Reagan. Abe is determined to find the killer before more people are killed. When he and Kristen begin working together, he is drawn to her intensity and compassion. As the stakes get higher and the threats increase, Abe and Kristen must not only fight the madman but also the threat to their hearts.

Initially, I thought this would be a very cut and dried romantic suspense. It is so much more than that. Karen Rose has crafted a gripping tale that will have readers turning pages late into the night. I’m Watching You takes an idea straight from reality and creates a plot that is top-notch. The details and ever-evolving storyline make this a unique, rewarding read for anyone who enjoys a well-crafted book. I was never sure which direction the author was going, but was drawn further into the plot with each eloquent page. The style in the book is refreshing and ensures that the reader experiences the full impact of the story. The author offers a variety of viewpoints that enhance the tension and emotion. Kristen’s interaction with the victims is moving and her stoic bravery in the face of hatred that is directed at her will move readers. While at the same time, the insight into the thoughts and actions of the vigilante are chilling in their cruelty and precision.

Ms. Rose has taken time and forethought to develop characters that will instill a reaction in the reader. The main characters are exceptional, and the depth of the supporting characters further enhance this memorable work. From the dialogue and descriptions, to the sheer brutality and love that emanate from the pages, this book is not to be missed.
