Primordial

Denise Agnew’s latest offering in her Special Investigations Agency series is a primal treat. Primordial has a luring sensuality that makes this work an erotic tale not to be missed.

The story begins with a two-fold mystery to be solved. First, Keira Jessop’s grandfather stands accused of abetting a thief in obtaining stolen artifacts. In order to clear his name, she agrees to retrieve the two pieces of La Pasion from a well-guarded complex in the middle of a rainforest. Keira can’t succeed alone and is therefore paired with SIA Agent Zane Spinella. Together they embark on a dangerous, heated undercover assignment. Readers are immediately engaged in the covert mission to retrieve the stolen artifact. However, the mystery surrounding the artifact creates an underlying desire to see if the two halves of La Pasion do in fact cause the damage foretold. Ms. Agnew has balanced the contemporary mission and paranormal aspect of the statue well with the explicit sensuality that drips from the pages. The sexual tension that manifests itself between Zane and Keira is a testament to the author’s style. She has managed to seamlessly incorporate their relationship, and all its passion, into the tension and intrigue that comprises the rest of the plot.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of ,Denise Agnew’s writing is discovering the power of love within her work. She never fails to create two strong, likable characters that are well matched. Keira and Zane are intelligent, brave, and passionate. Yet in the end, none of these things are capable of saving them. It is the love they have for each other that drives them to survive. A note from the reviewer, the eroticism within Primordial is descriptive, wonderfully told, and perhaps not for the faint of heart; but for those that enjoy experiencing the bolder side of sex, this is an excellent blend of suspense and passion.
