The Improper Wife

May 1814, John “Gray” Grayson, awakes from “The Dream” from his past to a pounding on the door of his room. He opens the door to a very pregnant Margaret “Maggie” Delaney. Maggie grabs her waist in labor pain so intense and quick, that in a few minutes time Gray delivers her baby. Trying to locate her husband, Maggie discovers that he faked his identity to wed and bed her. Gray sends Maggie and her son to his uncle and aunts home for further help.

Gray returns from two years at war to find Maggie and her son now live with his father at their family estate. Gray was banished from there eight years ago when he chose to go to war. He discovers that Maggie has a marriage paper with his signature on it, so he must keep up with the charade to protect his family. Envying Maggie’s close relationship with his family, Gray grows suspicious of all the control she has over his home. She has a special way of working with his family that he can not believe.

The Improper Wife is such a special story of a woman who is betrayed by her husband’s false marriage and identity, only to find the man who owns that true identity to be the love of life. Gray learns through Maggie’s passion for her son, how priceless family and friends are. Diane Perkins gave me such a heart-warming story to read, I give her 4 angels.
