The Brothers Gallagher
Terry returns home to Ohio after his divorce to teach and finds that his brother Larry has become the new Dean of Frazier College. When they move into the dean's house, they find journals on time-travel the previous dean had left behind. Terry gets the bright idea to travel back to 1901, before the Wright Brothers invented the airplane and invent it himself. When he returns to 2000, he finds that everything has changed for his family. His brother is now married with kids; the college is called Gallagher University and the air force base is now Gallagher Air Force base.
While telling his brother about all the things that had happened in 1901, his nephew L.L. says he wants to go back with him when he goes. When Terry decides to go back in time, he takes L.L. with him so that he can see the past and to let L.L. meet the family he'd of never known otherwise. But Terry does things in the past that once again changes the future and that makes things worse for his family, but better for the general public. Now Terry has to decide if going back again will help or hurt his family. Should he even try to fix what he has done wrong or leave it be and just start living in the present?
Mr. Stark has written a novel that asks the age-old question, what would one do if they could travel to the past. The story shows how one man decided to change history and how it had affected not only his family, but history as well. There are a couple of places in the story that drag, but overall this book is a good read. The descriptions of what the past looked like are interesting and informative. The characters are believable and have the readers hoping things will work out for them.
