Five years with nothing more than his wife and the memory of $80,000 in stolen money to keep him company, Nathan Partridge is ready to get out of the Arizona Territorial Prison. The moneys gone and the trail leads to Dead Creek, where he discovers his wife might not be as dead as he thought. He’s set to follow the trail. But it’s dangerous. He has a relentless marshal trailing him, two deranged manhunters, and the most dangerous of them all, Partridge’s homicidal father.

Mr. Curran has deftly crafted a version of the old west, probably eerily close to the truth. The sweat and smell waft from his words. The words reach out and grab the reader’s attention, surround the reader with the harsh realities. Fresh and brutal, Curran has the ability to re-inspire readers into a love of the historical genre. This is a fantastic novel. A definite must have if you are a fan of true-grit westerns.
