Gypsy Nights

Gitana meets Sebastian for the first time when he enters her herb shop to ask for advice and assistance in planting the garden of his new house, just across the street. Gitana is of Gypsy blood, and her grandmother tells her that her fate is to be the mate of a demon – a mullo in Roma, the Gypsy language. She’s already married and divorced one demon, and she doesn’t think she’s ready for another. Little does she know that Sebastian is a demon -- a vampire, but a very unusual vampire. Sebastian is not cruel, and tries to save humans from the worst of the undead. Do Gitana and Sebastian have a future together, or will her crazed ex-husband keep them apart?

The character of Sebastian is three-dimensional and realistic, and a very attractive person despite his one little flaw of being a vampire. I really felt the emotions that he was feeling. I felt that Gitana was slightly less well realized, but she is still an interesting character. The secondary characters also were well developed, and the interactions of well-written characters are what make a story come alive. The sex scenes are long and frequent, and very very graphic. Most of the scenes are male/female between a loving couple, but there is also one ménage à trois scene.

This is a very unusual story for Mandy Roth – it is a very erotic novella with lots of explicit sex. I must say I enjoyed this change of pace for Ms. Roth, and look forward to additional novels from her that push the envelope!
