Passport To Passion
Emmy Ryan is an ace investigative reporter for a newspaper in Syracuse, NY. She normally writes stories about nitty-gritty real life crimes, but now her editor has assigned her a cream-puff story on the national parks to celebrate National Parks Week. When Emmy arrives at the Dept. of the Interior Offices in Washington, D.C., and meets her guide, National Park Ranger Brandon Katz, her suspicions that she has been set up by two scheming matchmakers are confirmed. Brandon is just too good-looking and too conveniently single for the assignment to be a random one. Emmy decides that she can certainly resist his charms for the week that her assignment will last. Or are these famous last words...?
This is a sweet short story with a comedic touch. Emmy and Brandon do their best to carry out their assignment of visiting as many national parks as possible in 5 days, while ignoring the growing attraction between them. While they come across as attractive people, these characters are drawn somewhat superficially, probably because of the short format. This is a very innocent romance, because it is not explicit at all – there are no physical love scenes, except for one very brief, very platonic sequence. The story is fun and fresh, and is quickly read, perfect for a brief respite from daily cares. I enjoyed this story, and would recommend it to any reader of romance.
