Sight Unseen
Faith Connors had a strong motivation to work as a forensic detective in a small town. Although everyone thought she was crazy turning down jobs in bigger cities, it was the rare, unheard of, unsolved crimes that happened in small towns that she wanted to help solve. When Faith was younger, her best friend Tammy's death had been labeled accidental for no other reason than not having the proper equipment to correctly identify a killer. Through some hard times, and financial finagling she has been able to find a sponsor for her dream lab, dubbed the Bunker.
Now it seems that Faith is caught up in a game of cat and mouse; where she's the mouse. Someone has murdered her uncle, leaving a valentine, auspiciously for her. With no leads, or clues Faith will have to rely on the one thing she believes in, science, to help solve her uncle's murder. When scientific analysis turns up no clues, Faith is desperate. Desperate enough to follow the advice of another hard-boiled detective turned believer. She goes to see to see Jonathon Ashland.
Jonathan is a psychic, a telepath who also has the Sight. His hasn't been an easy life; there is a tragedy in his past that still haunts him. Despite warnings, he agrees to help Det. Connors. He's hoping that he doesn't live to regret this impulse. These two get dangerously close to someone who will do anything not to be discovered. They have to catch a killer before he can catch them.
Ms. Mitchell's Sight Unseen is a thrilling ride, trying to keep one step ahead of the killer. This mystery was not easily solved; it held my attention to the very end. Ms. Mitchell's flowing writing style was definitely a contributing factor to the short length of time it took me to devour this book. Faith's motivation for choosing to work in her hometown was touching. Jonathan is a gifted, if tortured soul. His....for lack of a better term, familiar, Reesha is absolutely original. You will not grow bored with Sight Unseen. In fact, I couldn't put this chilling book down. Anything with Ms. Mitchell's name on it is sure to grab my attention from now on.
