Weekends

John Peterson is looking forward to the weekend ahead. He has invited younger siblings and their families that he hasn't seen in 10 years to a family reunion at a posh hotel. He has something important to tell them. But the reason for John's seeming spontaneous reunion isn't the only mystery that needs to be solved this weekend. Family secrets and scandals are about to be uncovered and lives changed forever. Kidnapping, a serial rapist on the loose, and murder weren't part of John's plans, but you know what they say about best-laid plans. Perhaps there will be some good memories of the weekend. Family will be reunited after all, and maybe true loves will find each other in all the craziness.

Weekends is jam packed full of action, intrigue, and mystery. Not to mention a good deal of love and romance. Author Lindy S. Hudis has a wonderful storytelling talent. The cast of characters is vast and this reviewer had a hard time keeping track of who is who, but that is how it is at a real life family reunions. John is a fifty-year-old entertainment lawyer. Married with one child, a son named Joe. Joe is a devastatingly handsome young man looking for a woman to love him for himself, not just his looks and his money. John's brother Stephen Peterson is there with his wife and two children, Shauna and Michael. Shauna is shy while her brother Michael is a temperamental and brooding young man with demons buried deep in his soul. Allison Collins is the sister of John and Stephen. She is married with two children. Paul is an easy going and cheerful guy that is fun to be around. Beverly is a young woman with a secret that could rock the family to the core. There is also extended family that has been invited for the weekend, but you will just have to buy the book to find out who they are.

Twist after twist and one catastrophic episode after another plague the family the whole weekend. This reviewer felt that the author moved much to quickly from one event to another without fully developing and exploring all the possibilities of each one. This book could have been made into two or three, creating a whole series. If you are ready for a roller coaster ride of a tale, this book is for you.
