Simply Sexy

Julia Bourdreaux is on a mission of change. She’s determined to get rid of her sexy, wild girl image and become a staid and responsible woman. Unfortunately, her plans don’t work out quite the way she hoped when sexy and untamed Ben Prescott has to move into her home to recover from a gunshot wound. Ben and Julia have had sexual chemistry since the moment they met and when they are forced into close quarters together, it’s like putting a match to gas, very combustible. Besides the tempting Ben, Julia has other things to contend with, such as how she can create a fun and interesting program for KTEX TV to prove that, despite the fact she’s no longer the boss; she can still create hip programs. Plus, her two best friends have fallen in love and she’s kind of left out in the cold but, worst of all, her father’s death is hitting her harder than expected. Julia can’t get a break.

Undercover cop Ben “Benny the Slash” Prescott is determined to find out who killed his partner Henry. While recuperating at Julia’s house, he’s doing some Internet searches and Googling to discover just what kind of scene Henry was getting involved in. It doesn’t look good either, the more Ben investigates, the more it seems good cop Henry had turned to the dark side, using his profession as a law enforcer for all the wrong reasons. Living with Julia isn’t helping matters because instead of wanting to investigate Henry’s death, the only investigating Ben wants to do is find out what Julia looks like without her clothes. The more he gets to know her though, the more his opinion of her changes… she’s so much more than the artificial shell she presents to the world. Julia is smart, sexy, a softie, and way, way too tempting.

Though Julia is busy with her newest creation, Primal Guy, and Ben is trying to find a killer, soon they both can’t resist each other. But what will happen when the heat from their sexual encounter fades… will there be something more important left to start a relationship with, or are Ben and Julia destined for loneliness?

Simply Sexy is simply wonderful! This is the third story in Linda Francis Lee’s Simply trilogy and not only does it create a great conclusion for the series, but it definitely packs a wallop of a romance. This is one of the best stories I’ve read this year because Linda Francis Lee does a great job of really getting inside her characters, helping the reader to understand their emotions, their goals, their motivations and their dissatisfactions with life. By the end of the story, I felt like Ben and Julia were two living, breathing people. The wonderful multilayered plot really helps to enhance the characters’ foibles, as does the cast of secondary characters, all who add something special to this story. Of course, it is Ben and Julia who steal this show. Their love was all the more amazing because they had to take the time to get to know each other, to find out that though they may not be perfectly compatible, where it counts most, they matched perfectly. Readers will definitely want to read the first two books in this trilogy, though Simply Sexy can definitely stand on its own two legs. This is a Recommended Review because it will grip you from the first page to the very last word.
