Wild Hearts 2: Wild By Night

Candace "Candy" Anderson is not happy when she realizes she's been paired with Duane Livery at her brother's wedding. After a scorching, but scary, sexual encounter with Duane in the past, she's determined to avoid him at all cost. What she thought would be a wonderful night of erotic lovemaking turned into a close encounter with the third kind when Duane transformed into a werewolf in the middle of sex. Since then, Candy has tried to avoid him as much as possible, not really believing that what happened could have happened, yet, she knows she didn't hallucinate.

Now he's determined to win her back, to prove to her that his animal side doesn't control him, and he knows the wedding will be the perfect opportunity to show her how right they are together. But instead, he just continues to scare her away when she finds out he can read her mind and that he can communicate with her without speaking. When the wedding turns out to be a bust for them, Duane has to take drastic measures. Luckily Candy's family is more than willing to help their strange courtship, and with Candy's younger sister's help, they work out a plan. Will it be enough to prove to Candy that they are soul mates? That they are meant to be together forever? Duane is willing to do whatever it takes. His love for Candy is strong and he has no intention of letting her go.

Wild By Night is the second book in Jodi Lynn Copeland's Wild Hearts series. This was a very intense story as Candy had to come to terms with not only Duane's werewolf side, but her own attraction to it. She never thought that fangs and fur could be sexy, but when it's Duane, well, her heart can't help but go pitter-patter. Ms. Copeland does a great job of portraying Candy's internal struggle, her fear about Duane, and her growing love for him. She knows she's loved him all her life, but sometimes love can be scary and the attraction between Candy and Duane is certainly strong enough to leave scars... literally! I enjoyed Duane and Candy's story, their powerful love, and their struggle to come to terms with each other. This was a fun and romantic story that will definitely tug at your heartstrings as you read about Candy and Duane's struggle to become one.
