In The Witching Hour

In A Pirate’s Life Adrian Strachan is a hundred year old vampire who has made the choice to help mankind rather than simply feast on humans. He meets Kiana, the partner of a police contact he has been assisting, who also happens to be the Chief of Police’s daughter. Kiana and Adrian must work together to catch some modern day pirates who are also murdering people. Sparks fly as Adrian struggles to resist his irresistible attraction to Kiana. As for Kiana, she makes it all the harder to resist because she is just as attracted to Adrian and makes no bones about her willingness to succumb. A Pirate’s Life is a fine read. This reviewer enjoyed the mix of contemporary with the historical flashbacks that Ms. Grime intertwines through the story.

Adopt-A-Demon is a very exotic read; Ms. Ladd tells a unique tale of two souls meant to be together but never figuring that out until it is too late. Meghan Lenihan and her favorite cousin Lucy are celebrating Halloween. In celebration they are carousing and entertaining themselves on the internet when Meghan opens a window on her computer that leads to the unleashing of her dream demon lover from another plane of existence. Jason Althorp, a half human half demon, is finally free of his prison in the demon plane and has come to reunite with his long-lost soul mate. He has been infiltrating her dreams for weeks in the hopes that they can change their fate and finally be reunited forever. However they have to deal with a deadline for them to stay together and Jason’s archrival Balberith before they can concentrate on each other.

The Sacrifice is an exciting read; Ms. Martin tells a story about love conquering all. Briana Cashel a young and beautiful woman in the prime of life flees her home to escape becoming a sacrifice to horrible demons. As she runs away she thinks of the life she is giving up with Weylyn Quinn, a fledgling priest enforcer and her budding love. However she also realizes even if Weylyn has feelings for her he will do his duty regardless and as an enforcer that means bringing her back to be sacrificed. Weylyn is sent on a task he has no liking for, to bring back the fleeing Briana to be sacrificed. He has been courting Briana and believes he is in love with her but he knows for the greater good she must come back.

The Seductress is a wonderful and riveting read. Colette McFarland is a witch or half-witch that for the past ten years has been controlled by a man who stole her necklace after she had helped him escape a life threatening and dangerous situation. In order for her to get back control of her life, as well as her necklace, she formulates a plan to use his son, Adrian Robinson to steal back the necklace. Adrian has grown to trust that anything that involves his father will not involve him. Colette is a huge stumbling block for him because he is incredibly attracted to her, even though he has no wish to be.

C.H. Scott has written a very powerful story that has every element you could want. There is intrigue, revenge, seduction, forgiveness, and greed; all are enthralling elements in a story to keep you reading more. The hot and heavy love scenes were another plus to this story. C.H. Scott really knows how to write some smoking love scene.

This reviewer enjoyed all the stories in In The Witching Hour, all were very well written and the stories in the anthology offer a fantastic mix of different types of paranormal elements.
