Tyrant Moon

In Elaine Corvidae’s, Tyrant Moon, Arrow that Flies the Farthest travels to the southern empire in hopes of locating someone able to stop Balthazar.

Thraxis is a dying man and a wizard. Balthazar cursed him before breaking his vows and fleeing the Sanctum. The Sanctum Council has offered Thraxis a choice: sleep with Melilandra and give them a child to replace him or follow Arrow north to confront Balthazar. Thraxis’ decision will determine his fate and the future of the northern barbarian clans.

Arrow broke her oaths, trekked to the empire for help, and resolved to atone for her former actions. Her homeland has been devastated by war and brutality because of a power hungry chief and Balthazar. Although Thraxis does not look capable of defeating Balthazar, she will not turn away his assistance since only magic can halt Balthazar now.

As Arrow and Thraxis journey north, they face themselves, their previous deeds and the consequences reaped. If they are able to see past their bias, they may find healing and forgiveness before they challenge Balthazar. The decision is theirs.

Tyrant Moon evocatively renders the personal wounds that destroy if left untreated. Just as Arrow and Thraxis’ burgeoning friendship begins, their relationship is frayed by Arrow’s secret. Will Thraxis be able to forgive her? Or will they lose everything over Thraxis’ pride?

Elaine Corvidae’s Tyrant Moon is a spellbinding, haunting saga of despair, shame, anguish, and liberation. I could not stop reading it in spite of my family’s interruptions and Thanksgiving. I eagerly await Elaine Corvidae’s next book.
