Trinity on Tylos

On the colony ship Excalibur, Major Venice Dylenski served as the Head of Security. It seemed as if nothing much ever happened on the ship requiring the security department’s help – the only excitement was when a scouting party was sent to investigate planets for settlement. Married to the Executive Officer, Venice sometimes felt like she’d been given the job just to get her husband, Steve, on the mission. So it was very unusual when the sensors and view screens on board suddenly were filled with static for more than a day. Immediately afterwards, a large alien ship appeared, approaching at high speed.

When the aliens hailed the humans and made overtures of friendship, Excalibur’s Captain McPherson was certainly willing to respond. After the aliens were given a tour of the ship, and requested access to their computer files, Venice began to get suspicious of their motives. She urged the Captain not to give the aliens access to all of their files, but McPherson insisted on following through on his promise. The human colonists soon discovered that Venice’s fears were correct ...

I’m not going to tell you more about the plot, because that would give it away – but I will say that it starts out like a typical science fiction novel, and then, suddenly, takes off into undiscovered country. The author has a great talent for putting emotions into words; I truly felt what the characters were feeling throughout the story. To make things more interesting, the characterizations are so complex that there are no “good” guys, nor “bad” guys, only complex people doing what they must to survive. Also, while this is a romance in the sense that the plot includes relationships between people, it is primarily a science fiction novel. The scenes involving sex are more sensual than graphic, and fairly brief.

This is a great book for fans of science fiction and futuristic romance. I’m giving this story 5 angels and a Recommended Read, because it is so well written that it grabbed me at the beginning and kept me enthralled until the very last page.
