After the Flood 2: Rise to Power

Trouble is brewing in the Valley when an abandoned baby appears with what seems to be a unicorn horn button but who is amazingly a vampire. Kella comes to the baby’s rescue but she isn’t content with just taking care of the new born she wants to know who left him and why. She has never seen a mixed breed in the Valley before but that doesn’t stop her from contemplating the thought that just maybe her and Tanne can have a child after all.

The secret birthing of the babe is traced back to Leonus, the high vampire priest, and a Vampire priestess, Mijara. Now that they have committed heresy against the races they must be exiled from the Valley. However it isn’t long before Tanne sees evidence of a mage battle in the area where both were exiled so he goes through the Valley shield to heal if necessary. Who Tanne discovers and brings back home for healing secretly will shock the others as well as possibly start a race war.

This has to be one of the best books this reviewer has read in this magical world Lena Austin has created. Readers will love the tension that develops from the actions of the Valley residents, and the ending will have you applauding the author for this intriguing finale. There were a lot of the same characters we have seen before but the new ones and the surprise visitor are electrifying. This story in the series has been the most intense so far, but is truly worth reading just as the rest of them in this series. It is well deserving of its Recommended Read!
