Ms. Gross has delivered a tale that brings together two mismatched lovers and shows that opposites really do attract. The road to friendship is not easy for Libby and Tom and the road to romance is reminiscent of one of Tom’s races. As they struggle to overcome their misconceptions and put aside the baggage from their pasts, readers are offered a glimpse into a romance that is a work in progress. The author has not made these people perfect; instead they have bad days, petty moments and times when you think they should just call it quits. However, the author brings it all together and offers an ending that ensures Running on Empty is romantic and fun.
