Katie and the Ghost
Katie didn’t believe in ghosts. In fact she’s loved being able to debunk the stories of places being haunted for the last twelve years. The Red Lion Inn was supposed to be haunted by the ghost of the Earl of Heatheringham, who’d been murdered there in 1807 and the murderer had never been found. Katie was there to prove he didn’t exist. Not being able to sleep because of the gale winds that were making the sign squeak, Katie gets up to go complain to the landlord. Only something else happens to make her rethink her decision. When she hears a voice start talking and answering her, Katie thinks the landlord has a microphone and speaker hidden in the room. When the Earl appears before her, she says he’s a hologram. But is he for real and can he change her mind about ghosts? Or is Katie right and he’s only a hologram to scare the guests?
Ms. O’Connor has written a short 20-page story that gives the readers an erotic ghost who tries to prove to Katie that he is real. The scene that made me laugh was when the Earl tells Katie to touch him. When she notices that her hand passes through him, she screams and jumps back, then trips, but she still isn’t sure he’s a ghost. This is a good book when you have a limited amount of time to read.
