Walking Through Fire

Caleb goes to Romania in search of answers. He wants to know why he cannot die. He is over two hundred years old. He has seen a lot of his loved ones die. This has taken quite a toll on Caleb. He knows he must find out why he is immortal. In Romania he meets a woman named Rianna, a woman who is unique in her own way.

Rianna is a ghost, who died when she was twenty-two years old. Rianna lives in the Spirit Realm, where there plenty of rules to obey. She does not believe in Erza and the Spirit Council’s rules and is continuously breaking them. One of the rules is that she must not interact with mortals. Which she does quite often, especially since Caleb. What she is allowed to do in the Spirit Realm is read and gain knowledge. To Rianna being dead and living in the Spirit Realm with all these rules is such a drag. She craves excitement and that can get her into trouble.

Will Caleb and Rianna be able to outsmart Erza and find a way to be together? Will Caleb find the answers to his questions? Caleb and Rianna are a very unusual couple, who will make you root for the underdog.

Rachel Carrington gives us a unique story about life after death, with a lot of laughter in the mixture. There is also such sadness radiating from Caleb, you want to take him in your arms and give him comfort. The raw human emotion coming from these two non-mortals will just tug at your heartstrings. This is one book that does take you to the next level. I am looking forward to reading more books by Ms. Carrington and see what new places she will take us next.
