Yule Be Mine

The problem was that it was the holiday season, and Jordan Christian’s over-protective older brothers kept finding her “dates.” Jordan knew that they would never stop until they had found the “perfect” man for their little sister. She’d been on enough Disaster Dates with men they had chosen for her. So she took a bold step and placed a personals ad -- “Single woman seeks phony fiancé for family functions. Will pose as yours in return.”

Luke Foster was on the run from his sister’s party, where she had tried once again to foist a potential wife on him. He planned to get married eventually – of course he did! – just not now, and not to any of the pretty but brainless women his sister introduced to him. Stopping at a local coffee shop, Luke happened to see an ad in the personals section that would solve his problem – “Single woman seeks phony fiancé...”

I laughed ‘til I howled with this one! The situation, two people who are counting on a fake engagement to keep their respective families off their backs over the holidays, is a perfect set-up. The plot is tight and well-paced, the dialogue realistic and funny, and the characters – all of them in both families, not merely the hero and heroine – are brought to wonderfully comedic life by Ms. Teglia. Jordan is a little whacky, and she is irresistible to Luke, a straight-arrow kind of guy with a sense of humor. The few love scenes are sensual and romantic, with a satisfying emotional connection. I loved this story, and recommend it highly to those who like their romance with a dash of humor.
