Sanguine 1: Damnation
Madeline and Micah’s private lives become very public when it becomes apparent that she was able to escape the ‘virus’ that commands him. Madeline just wants to love Micah, the man, not the arrogant bloodthirsty virus that resides within him. She wants the compassionate human that still lurks inside his eyes.
Micah is known as the Head Vamp. He’s the creator of the AIDS vaccination. The processes that lead up to the eradication of this deadly disease unleashed a virus many times more potent. By testing the vaccinations on himself, he unwittingly infected himself with the vampire virus. The virus eats red blood cells at a rapid rate, causing the carrier to replenish his blood supply systematically by feeding on humans...most times this becomes fatal for the human. This in turn infects said donor (willing or no) with the virus. The virus is very much so a sexual predator, causing such a rush of carnal pleasure in the donor as to create ‘blood whores,’ junkies unable to reach sexual fulfillment without help from a Vampire. Micah has been able to restrain the virus from tainting Madeline, but for how long?
Sanguine 1: Damnation is an extremely erotic and thought provoking peek into Ms. Edwards’ take on vampire fiction. This novel starts rather slow, but stay with it because by page three you will be spellbound by this unique novella. Ms. Edwards’ explanation of how vampires come to be and the way the world follows suit was refreshing and entirely plausible. Micah, considered the scourge of humanity by those not infected, has long given up hope of defeating the monster that resides within his body. His efforts to control the virus, which presents itself as an entity separate from its host, have been for naught…so far. That’s where Madeline enters the picture. She sees the humanity struggling inside Micah. She’s been touched by the virus but is immune, and therefore of no use. She is considered superfluous by the virus, as she cannot be a carrier. Sanguine 1: Damnation is an awesome beginning to a promising series. I cannot wait for Ms. E!
dwards’ next installment.
