Mistress of Midnight

Kira is an unusual vampire. She’s half Fae, and that makes her one of the most powerful of her kind as well as a leader. Kira is unhappy about her maker Diablo telling her that it is time for them to seperate; after all, they've been together for 300 years. She knows that he wasn’t her mate, but she still feels hurt. She feels alone and abandoned, until Johan walks into her court claiming that he’s her mate. She feels a connection with him, but is he really what he claims?

Johan is a powerful Viking vampire that is about to go after what he wants. He knows that Kira is the one, now he just has to convince her to mate with him.

Mistress of Midnight depicts Kira as a very powerful vampire with her own court to run. The loneliness of her position is starting to wear on her, and the sudden appearance of Johan definitely intrigues her. I was glad to see that she didn’t take him at face value at first; she made him work a little bit for his reward. There is a lot of sizzling and passionate sex, and not much protesting from either party. There were a couple of secondary characters that I would really like to know more about, Kira's mentor Diablo being one of them. Marianne LaCroix is definitely an author that I will be on the lookout for in the future.
