Aloha Love
Jeanine Stewart is a beautiful, successful pilot with a great job, wonderful friends, and a home in Hawaii. The only thing missing is a man to share her life.
Chris Harris spies Jeanine at his brother’s shop and falls instantly in lust. She notices him and appears interested, but turns a cold shoulder when she makes an incorrect assumption about him. She writes him off her list of possibilities, but thoughts of him continue to plague her. When they finally get together, their relationship moves so fast that there is barely time to draw a breath. It is a wild, passionate ride as they discover each other.
However, there is trouble in paradise in more ways than one. Chris can’t combat his fear of flying and Jeanine won’t give in to his wishes for her to take a less dangerous job. When Jeanine mistakenly stumbles onto a covert terrorist organization, the couple has an accident and unwittingly places themselves in danger. Then, a shadowy government agency steps in to try to avert a tragedy.
I found Wootson’s Aloha Love to be a fast-paced, wonderfully entertaining read. Her characters were lively and fun and her descriptions of Hawaii made me want to hop right on a plane. There are several levels of story here; this piece was well thought out and each piece meshed perfectly with the others. The nameless terrorist organization is very realistically portrayed and scary enough to have you looking over your shoulder. Wootson’s sex scenes sizzle and sparks fly whenever Chris and Jeanine are together. I was slightly dismayed, however, at Jeanine’s almost obsessive interest in Chris (as well as his in her), and the inordinately large number of fairly major disagreements that they seem to have in their short relationship. Chris tends to be a chauvinist, and Jeanine’s double-mindedness was vaguely irritating. Aloha Love is a pleasant read and an entertaining novel from Alice Wootson.
