Devlin Dynasty-Mountain Moonlight

Conner Devlin doesn’t relish being in Romania. He’s always more than willing to help wolves in need, and the wolves of the Carpathian Mountains desperately need help. The Romanian government is allowing hunters to go after the wolves, leading to their rapid extinction. Nevertheless, Conner plans to do his job then get out of Romania as soon as possible. The one thing he doesn’t count on is meeting Katya, the heir apparent to the Braslieu castle. After saving Katya from an attempted rape by a member of her own pack, Conner stays behind to comfort her and soon things heat up between them. Unfortunately, Conner doesn’t know that Katya is royalty when they make love. When he takes her virginity, he unwittingly becomes the new alpha male to Katya’s pack. They are mated for life, a fact that Katya doesn’t tell Conner beforehand. He believes it is a cruel trick to trap him into helping the Braslieu family, not believing for a second that the brandy Katya drank had made her lose her inhibitions. Now they are stuck…Conner knows he should get the hell out of dodge, but he can’t help sticking around, to see what may happen.

Soon Conner has taken over as pack leader, a fact which irritates Katya to the extreme. She’s been in charge of the pack since her parents died and though she knows Conner’s arrival will change things, she doesn’t expect him to take over. Katya wants a relationship that includes sharing and compromises, working together for the best of the pack, not highhanded decisions from an outsider. Will Katya and Conner get their problems straightened out before it’s too late or will their stubborn natures prevent them from seeing what’s right in front of their noses…true love.

Mountain Moonlight is a fantastic shape shifter story. Both of these characters are extremely used to doing things their way. They are both alphas in the strongest sense of the word and they have to find a way to compromise in order to make their relationship work, a relationship that doesn’t start off on the best footing. Jaci Burton does an outstanding job of characterizing these characters as people with strong ideals, strong morals, and a sense of trying to do the best for their environment. The sexual heat between these two fairly singes the pages as Katya and Conner warily circle each other, each trying to come to terms with their new feelings. This is one story you won’t want to miss, and it’s a great addition to Ms. Burton’s Devlin Dynasty series.
